DOING BUSINESS WITH THE PORT

CONNECTING BUSINESS WITH PORT OPPORTUNITIES

Louisiana Gateway Port is committed to fair, transparent procurement and expanding opportunities for local and eligible small businesses to participate in Port projects and operations. Through structured outreach, partnerships, and a competitive procurement process, the Port works to ensure businesses have clear pathways to engage.

HOW TO DO BUSINESS WITH LOUISIANA GATEWAY PORT

1

Monitor Current Bids & RFPs

All formal contracting opportunities are advertised through the Port’s official procurement postings. Businesses interested in working with the Port should regularly review posted solicitations and follow all submission instructions and deadlines.
2

Engage Through Purchasing

Businesses seeking information about procurement opportunities, outreach events, or general purchasing questions may contact the Port’s purchasing team directly.

The purchasing team can:

  • Provide general guidance on procurement processes
  • Share information on upcoming opportunities when available
  • Direct businesses to appropriate resources or contacts

Contacting purchasing does not constitute vendor approval, pre-qualification, or guarantee of contract award.

3

Outreach, Engagement & Partnerships

Through the Port’s Small Business Opportunity Program (SBOP), Louisiana Gateway Port plans outreach opportunities to help small businesses connect with Port projects and prime contractors.

These may include:

  • Meet-the-Prime opportunities
  • Informational sessions on how to respond to bids and proposals
  • Subcontracting and supplier opportunities across Port projects

Outreach activities support awareness and relationship-building and do not replace formal procurement requirements.

OUR COMMITMENT TO SMALL BUSINESS

Louisiana Gateway Port supports participation by Eligible Business Enterprises (EBEs), including:

  • Eligible Local Businesses operating in Plaquemines Parish
  • Minority-owned, women-owned, veteran-owned, and disadvantaged businesses

The Port’s Small Business Opportunity Program (SBOP) promotes meaningful participation across planning, construction, professional services, operations, and maintenance while remaining compliant with Louisiana Public Bid Law.

OVERSIGHT & ACCOUNTABLITY

The Port’s Small Business Opportunity Program includes oversight to promote fairness and transparency, including:

  • A Small Business Program Manager who supports outreach and compliance
  • An Independent Compliance Officer who reviews program implementation and investigates complaints
